I have worked in local newspapers as a reporter, on nationals as a sub, in corporate communications/PR and in the trade press as a writer and/or editor.
I can tackle anything from news and features to human interest and one-on-one interviews; from sub-editing other writers' work to liaising with designers and printers to get a complete publication to press. I will also take on one-off copywriting jobs for press releases, leaflets, websites and so on.
My writing style is fluent and readable and I am very adaptable and able to tackle a wide range of subject matter. I have written about everything from banking to balloon art, from women's interest to business.
I'm reliable, conscientious and used to working to deadlines and to a brief.
As well as the NCTJ certificate, I also have qualifications in other related areas including PR and industrial editing.
As for charges, I would usually charge at least the minimum rates recommended by the NUJ (see its Freelance Fees section) - though this may be negotiable if the client is a charity or if the work is particularly interesting and regular. I can charge by the hour/day or by the project, depending on what is required. Please see my website, www.fwords.co.uk, for more details.
The Testimonials page lists nice things said about me by various employers and the CV page gives full details of previous experience.
